- Cambelt Service - a definite ask! Ford dropped the 10year change to 5 years or 80,000miles (which ever is first),
-make sure cambelt has been done by a specialist with correct frp timing tool as if not it will be running under power. ( only a few tools in excistence), - Brake Service - has it ever had one? can be quite costly if not maintained annually,
-front brake disks- when were they last changed as cannot be less than 26mm thin and they only start at 28mm, - Dirty black steering wheel - don’t be put off can be easily cleaned with soapy water,
- Seat Plastics and Alcantara condition - the harness plastic surround can pop out, and also the side handles can snap, the alcantara depending on mileage can be very bobbled if not looked after well,
- Rusty / bubbling rear arches and under body areas should be checked!
- Exhaust Manifold - has it been changed to a stainless steel one if so Piper or Milteck also what is the state of the rest of the exhaust system?
- Suspension Bushes - have they been changed. If so original or polybushed? powerflex bushes will be purple,
- Engine Slam Panel, Suspension Turrets and rest of Bay - check too see if it is imperial blue, if it is and it is not one of the press cars then it would suggest that the car has been in a front end smash as only the press cars had colour coded engine bays,
- Check for overspray on bodywork as this can be an indication of a respray or accident repair.
- Registration - Manifold Number - VIN - Mileage,
- Owners Supplement - every FRP when new had a supplement with the unique manifold number,
- Overall Condition - due to the wide body it is prone to stone chipping and the splitter can crack if going over a speed bump to quick,
- Closure / panel fit - the FRP's where constructed almost by hand so some of the lines are out so doesn’t always indicate accident damage.
- Stalling issues when approaching junction - possible dirty idle control valve, TPS sensor failing,
- Wondering steering - tracking out,
- Brake squeal - common FRP problem nothing to worry about,
- FRP's are notoriously famous for there handling, if it feels woolly check bushes as id expect they are still on originals.
