my guess is the fuel pump but has anyone got any ideas to whats happening ? any help is very greatly appreciated

It will probably be the hego sensor. Soot around the end of the exhaust is another tell tale sign.

Take it to your local friendly mechanic who should be able to fix it for you quite easily.

There are Ford hegos or aftermarket ones that need soldering on, depends how much you want to spend really!

The hego is located on the exhaust underneath the car by the cat.

if you can lift the car, the hego is so simple to replace, just unplugs from the cable connector, & unscrews from exhaust.

Its about £105 + VAT

you can get a universal one for around £30 on ebay but requires you to solder on the plug
