You can time up the cams using a DTI with just as much, if not more, accuracy.

Quoted £450 by Ford, who are adamant the standard 1.7 timing tool will work OK...
Any garages in the North West with the correct equipment?

Forgive my ignorance, what's a DTI?

Dont take it to them if they think a normal one will be ok!

From memory a dti gauge is a tool for measuring the profiles and opening of the valves against piston position.

Yes a DTI is an accurate way of measuring Valve lift against piston postion. Just a tool for measuring fine measurments.

A lad I know of (known as Flashbstrd on most forums) lends out his FRP timing tool for a refundable deposit. I could try get his number if you wish.

I've got hold of a locking tool, but had it up at the garage and can't get it to fit? So far we've determined the standard 1.7 locking bar fits and the cams are timed up with that atm (not by us but whoever did the belt last time). Give us a clue? :?

I'm assuming the FRP locking tool fits in the same place as the standard one?
