i know ths prob isnt the best subject to ask on a racing puma owners site however i cant help but think about breaking my racing puma, well actually racing puma and racing puma shell i have.

I got a cat c racing puma a few months back with the intention of repairing however the car was alot more damaged than i first anticipated and managed to find a less damaged shell that needed only minor work and was going to reshell the cat c one into it.

However i cant help but thinking i would be better off breaking the car and getting a straight one.

I know the straight one will also need alot of work doing to it to get it as tidy as one i would like but at the end of the day it wouldnt be recorded as written off, somehing that dosnt bother me but would most other buyers unfortunatly should i ever want to sell it.

the only parts i am missing is the splitter, bonnet and headlight between the 2 shells.

If i were to break the car and shell what realistically could i expect as a return to put towards a tidy racing puma?
Currently restoring No 0336 to its former glory!

Bonnet and headlights you can use from a standard Puma - will cost you a few quid from a scrappy or ebay - I know a few ppl breaking their Pumas on Project puma

depends on the time youd be willing to give to the dead FRP mate but from what Ive seen on here (what Glyn has done) it can be very worthwhile and rewarding ;fixing up a broken one :ok:

Just my opinion though

Dont think about what its worth now, think plus 10 years, my view is prices are pretty much rock bottom, give them time and the rarity alone will see value starting to creep back up, also I was reading an article about one of the last one that was broken and he struggled to make his money back as parts prices have dropped in addition to car values.

the feista boys will take parts and theyll sell quickly! wich is a shame i think, yes having the engine ina fiesta probly dose give you alot of credit! but it isnt quite the real thing! i almost got z's with an frp engine in it. so glad i own the real thing instead! id say stick with it and rebuild!

Just to make the opinions level (against vs pro) I'd say if it is in such a bad condition as to not be repaired within a fairly decent budget or the cost of a straight FRP then break it.
The parts will go towards sustaining other pumas/FRP(and the odd fiesta  ). Timing is a bit bad atm due to the weather and people storing them, so some problems wont appear till summer.

Give it till summer, think about it and if you still feel the same way then break it.

This is just an oppinion and should in know way affect your own. All FRPs are special and unique, no two are the same (since the bloody body panels are never straight  ).

I know the feeling mine had some damage to the front wings and bumper when I bought it and id be lying if I said breaking it never crossed my mind. So glad I didnt now, its far from perfect. Its my rolling project that gets better and better when I can afford it and as everyone else has said think about how much they will probably be worth in 10 years time. If you look through the history of performance fords they all hit rock bottom after 10 years which is where the puma is now.
