Having checked under the front of my new Puma...I see that it has a pair of doggy, rusty old discs which do NOT resemble anything manufactured by ALCON, my guess is that they are a set of standard Ford jobbies ground down..they are not pretty..
OK...so, I've braced myself..tweaked up my truss another notch to maximum...and with a voice like that lad who sang "Walking in the Air" that Xmas some time ago..
I'm poised...like a coiled spring....hopping from one foot to another like I need the lavvy ..Here it comes...
Scary....this....
whisper....
Has anyone got a set of genuine Alcon discs that won't cost the GDP of a failed Celtic economy???
Are they really THAT much???
Cheers

Yep THAT Much....£400 + Vat unless you were lucky enough to get your hands on a set between Ford off loading them to the NCC and Alan at PB buying up all the stock.
Then you paid less then a quarter of the current asking price
Phone PB and haggle
You might find a member has an old pair near the limit they might sell you.

Unfortunalty there is a company selling discs off a completly different car, apperently 'machined down to fit'..which is an absolute bodge job on an FRP, as the original discs are motorsport quality 28mm thickness... based on what iv'e seen before, your discs were probably 26mm, the wrong offset (washers used to offset the caliper distance..another bodge)..so your pistons may well be be sticking out MUCH further than intended... which leads to them getting very scabby over time... so if this isn't resolved you end up needing a new set of seals and pistons also.... This is the crazy thing, when specialists are supposed to be looking out for the best interests of the car and the owner....

If your going to the trouble of fitting new discs (and pads i presume)..you really need to tie that in with a full caliper inspection, so you know the system is hassle free for a good 2 years 8) 8)

If you can get a day free and take a trip here i'd be happy to take a look at them for you at very reasonable money... 8)

Altho after saying that, i managed to get my garage up from -7 to -4 today..lol  so it does need to warm up a bit first!.. :x

There are better people on this forum who can help than me, but I've just been through this, do I or dont I go for the original spec Alcons or an alternative (Hi Spec) disk supplier.
If you are going to do a lot of miles and go through discs then Hi Spec may be a better option as you only replae the actual disk part, but initially, when I priced up it was more for these as I had to get everything so in the end decided to go original.
Managed to get Discs and pads for £400 from PB which gets even more expensive every time I say it.......Ouch.
Saying that, they should last a while now and the braking over what it was is worth the money just for the smiles on my face when driving.
Just my opinion.

33k+ plus out of disks and over 15k+ from pads so that will last a good while :)
