Done about a third of a job :( Squeal shims stuck to the pads are steel and won't cut with a Stanley knife, so cleaned off all the copper slip apart from the guide rail contact and chamfered the leading edge of the pads.
If they still squeal, I will run a disk cutter across the shim steel to score and brake off at an angle.
Not got any RTV of a high enough temp rating to bother using at the moment.

i put two pads togetther... use an old backing plate as a guide..... run down the edge a few times with a junior hacksaw enough to score a line.... then mount both pads pressed together with the old plate in a vice...with the old plate just visable by a couple of mm... i hammer a small chisel between the backing plate and then bend backwards and forwards till it snaps off at my scored line... :D that way the rest of the plate will stay on the pad....

this is the sealant i use... really good quality stuff... remember it's only a wipe...not a thick layer at all....it doesn't need to be super high temp stuff.... 8) 8)

Sorted out yesterday Chris. Cut the squeal shims and cleaned up the pistons with some solvent.
Used the RTV on the pads.
Not a squeak so far :D So good in fact, I'm considering doing the Mintex and trying them .
I will take them to work tomorrow night and make up glue on some stainless shims.

Thanks

We have some Loctite 404 Super Glue at work with a primer you use first. It is VERY good.
Around £30 a small bottle
