Rear Brake Hose

These seem to be as rare as hens teeth? does anyone know of an alternative to Goodridge as mine have been on order from Pumabuild since what seems like the last Ice-age! and desperate to get back on the road.

There was a group buy going I think for rear hoses.
I was going to drop my spare fronts off to Circuit motors at Castle Combe to see how much they could make patten ones up for.
They have a dedicated brake section and are Goodrich specialists.
I'm sure if you can find similar in Co Durham ,they could make them up.
Give your local "Classic Car" club a ring, they will know where to get bits like hoses made up
My Dad's up near Barnard Castle and in a CC club, so there is at least one in Co Durham

The rear hoses are all out of stock..(as you've noticed)...

Alan at Pumabuild says he's getting some made up last time i was there... they are going to be expensive tho as the pipework has specific welding on it...

I'd speak to Alan at PB and see what the latest is on them... i think he was toying with the idea of just getting a simpler straight accross pipe made up due to the expense etc...

just spoke to Alan... he's getting hoses done...and may have them in as we speak...

but not the newer modified type that was done for the recall....

they were just far too expensive to get made up.... something like £100 per pipe / per side.... so i'm told anyway...

YES!!!!!!!!! mine didnt have the recall and they exploded during an mot test!!!!!

made my own from REAL braided hose and goodridge rebuildable REAL stainless fittings (bloody expensive!).
used a bulkhead fitting and a 45degree banjo....pair came in at £130, cheaper if you use steel fittomgs, prob £50 max

talk to HEL racing too

front?! no they dont rub...but id go as far as saying it was a rush job and there waaaay too long

i see what you mean now... yes the rear hoses were strapped to the rear beam... one car reported a failure in the brading as a result of the rubbing over time, and so the recall was done to correct the routing further away without the need for zip ties..lol

The loop on the front hoses is a tidy fit and the hoses are handed so the loop curles in the right way around the back of the support arm.... the length is carefully thought out so that the loop takes up the movement of the steering and not the joint of the hose... surely you can see this....

I would'nt big up your own DIY hoses as they were a) expensive and b) failed...as you posted up on PP that they leaked and you had to nip them up..lol

just like you keep bigging up a focus clutch on the basis that it takes your erratic style of driving, but you fail to tell people the whole truth that it's actually designed for a 100hp car.. lol

focus 1.8 clutch! its bigger than puma one so tougher and cos its oem its really light to press (tiny bit lighter than the puma one!)

i find your tone almost slanderous....

my hoses did not fail...i used my brakes VERY hard one day and the copper washer (a standard part) leaked slightly, i replaced it and went on my way. its the m10 copper washer you have between the unf / metric adapter to caliper on any standard frp. it was simply a casualty of my driving style.

my front hoses dont have the curve and work absolutely fine. unlike some when i fix a car i do a better job than you when you 'restore' a car. its my opinion that if im replacing a part i dont want it to corrode and look crap or rust in 2 months. why you bothered to buy new front hoses in steel is beyond me and (in my opinion) a complete waste of money cos i bet they look like their 10 years old already.

i dont care what ford says the focus clutch is rated to it is PHYSICALLY IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY to the puma one bar one point; IT HAS MORE SURFACE AREA!!!!! therefore is stronger than the puma one. i have had no issues with it and its softer to press than the st150 or standard puma clutches. im happy with it as are many others, you do whatever you want.

i dont like being picked up on issues that have been twisted by you to make me look bad when at least i am honest about what i do, where i get my parts, how much i pay and I SHARE THIS INFORMATION. you live in a glass house eldood and i have more stones than you, lets not do all this again

have you ever tried anything for yourself? have you looked in a parts book and compared a diesel clutch to a petrol one? most are rated at less power BUT its commonly known amongst REAL car nuts that they are stronger....its little things like that that honestly just make you look like an [profanity replaced]!! and when you run off and consult even more websites for info you look even worse. now, on the rare occassion you actually go away and figure something out for yourself i do respect you

i want to know what your problem is with me? is it that im the only person youv met who wont use your alcon service or your advice? that im a designer / engineer and you THINK you are? why do you constantly gripe and whinge and mock my efforts?

because a lesser man may see it as bullying...personally i think your just a little man who's threatened by someone else with some knowledge...someone who can do more than brakes, led conversions and polybushes

Just agree to disagree.
Chris looks after a lot of FRP's brakes, which would other wise be at the mercy of people unfamiliar with the set up and quirks.
I suspect He does a lot more FRP brakes than you have done.
He saves the owners money, but still make enough for the odd beverage. I suspect.
He might not be an engineer like you or me, but knows his Alcon's

Jacko, You have access to various equipment and materials which allow you to manufacture bits that even I cant. So you are in the privileged position of not needing to rely on anyone else for expertise or parts.
Are you still doing a sets of Stainless bolts for the Alcons?

It's personal preference with regards to clutch etc.
I had a standard one fitted last year. The original had lasted 77K miles and worked fine. So an original went back in.
Why Mod It when there is nothing wrong with it?
