Don't forget there are two types of FRP mat - the originals and the later production mats. They are all black with blue edging, and blue embroidered Puma logo, but the originals have a spiky rubber base and no facility to clip to the floor, whilst the later mats have fixing holes for clips like those on the standard Puma mats.

Hi Ed,
Do the later ones have the same part number as the origionals? Also do they come with the clips so they can be fixed to the floor? I wouldn't mind getting a set of the later production ones as I have the spikey bottomed origional mats which tend to slide around a lot, which is a tad annoying.

Same part number I believe, the later ones just replaced the old type stock when they sold out. I don't think you get the clips when you buy the mats, but these are regular Puma items that can be found and ordered by a Ford parts dept.

@Ed

I recently bought some of these directly from Ford and can confirm that the fixings for securing the mats to the carpet were included.

Looks like mine may have had Ford mats fitted in the past as there were hole in exactly the right places which I just re-used :-D

Thanks for that info Matt :)

The slidey-nature of the original mats is pretty annoying, so the later mats are a better option.

No problem :)

I agree; much better having them fixed, i experience 1 FRP with lose mats and 1 FRP with secured mats every other day : 8)

For Info should anyone need them:

mat clips.JPG

4 5029995 - £3.28 (inc vat)
5 1077796 - £3.28 (inc vat)

The quantities are unclear and due to the prices being identical I would imagine either FINIS code would get you both parts i.e. a kit.

I have both types, clipped and the originals.
I leave the newer clipped ones in the car all the time, protects the carpet.
Believe it of not, the Puma logo on them is actually blue under all the dirt

Most exciting moment I had with the mats moving around was on a parade lap a few years ago, I think I was hard in fourth when the pedal got stuck under the mat heading towards camp - lol - Ed was next to me at the time IIRC

I might invest in some new ones as I usually end up pulling them back in place at least 1 or twice a journey!
