looks like V5 is looking for a new home, a Car I have admired for 20 years has come up for sale and the only way I can finance this is to let FMC 005 go, hopefully it'll stay in the club, I would hate for it to end up in the public domain and get wrecked like a lot of FRP's now as V5 has always been looked after, so far only advertised here....................................

in brief -

V5 FRP - FMC 005 original San franciso press car, one of the few press cars to still retain it's original plate AND inlet manifold

76k, FSH, cambelt done recently, outstanding condition, I spent some time a couple of years ago restoring the interior and it currently has retrimmed steering wheel and seat bases, in original material, new door cards and original (spiky feet) mats, and I have driven it for about a week since

the interior literally is as new

cars is in an air conditioned classic car storage facility (about 20 miles) from me, so photo's are not available yet, a lot of people know the car and know the way I look after my cars,

I have amased a lot of new spares that will be available to the lucky new owner (wheels, new LSD box, gearlinkage, all heatsheilds, brakes, badges, wings, suspension, janspeed etc etc)

ths is THE one to keep and cherish but unfortunatley I only so much room (and finance)

Hi mate, you have stated you have a lot of spares too, so do you have a price in mind for the car and spares, as this would be my first racing puma !?!

Sorry your parting with V5 Glyn but I know how you feel if the right car is available. Price is very reasonable too if even a little low but for a quick sale it's a cracking car for someone at that price. I was hoping one day to get all the press cars back together as we seem to know the whereabouts of all of them other than V3, hopefully V 5 will find a new home with an enthusiast who will value the cars provenance and have your enthusiasm. Good luck with the sale I'd love to put him alongside V4 in our garage but the space is unfortunately taken up by our Elise. I'm sure you'll be back in FRP land before long anyway as you'll miss V5 when he's gone!!

cheers for the comments, I took V5 for an MOT yesterday and loved getting back out there (I haven't driven it for about 6 months  ) I'll really miss it but needs must, fraid this really will be the end of the line for me and FRP's and that really makes me sad but it would be pointless to sell V5 only to get another that probably wouldn't be as good

couple of pics taken yesterday back with 12 months ticket - sailed through 8)

Sorry again to read this Glyn. photos reflect what a cracking job you've done with V5 since I last saw the car at Coombe a number of years back. Very interested that like V4 it has Sparco pedals I wonder if these were fitted to them as Prees Cars.

Ah man, that is such a tempting offer, you have got me thinking, but would mean a new home would have to be found for 0027

Hello all.

I'd like to thank Glyn for entrusting me with V5. I was smitten when I first saw it two weeks ago. He really has looked after it and I'll endeavour to drag myself up to his high standards. The way the car looks and feels to drive is a testament to his efforts. I feel sorry for Gyln's good lady as if the way he looks after his cars is anything to go by - he must be high maintenance.

I feel bad not being able to invest in some of the spares that Glyn was offering owing to seven selfish friends getting married; four of them abroad. The sale of V5 caught me by surprise as I had mentally put off such a purchase knowing how expensive 2013 was going to be - however I felt I shouldn't let this one go! Glyn, as I said to you earlier, I'll be sending Mr. Restell down to collect his commission!

I've had a real hoot driving V5 back - popping and farting at every opportunity!!! I've lusted after an FRP ever since I worked on the project 13 years ago as a summer student at Dunton and quietly hoped that I'd find one of the old development cars, in particular V107 GEV, which I used to travel between Northampton, Boreham and Dunton in. I had Peter B scrap off some old level seats for me when I left and these have followed me through my university years serving as a constant reminder that I should find the remainder of the bits that go with them. Today I have and I'm chuffed to bits!

I've followed the forums over the years and it's very reassuring knowing that the community continues to thrive on a project that I was so lucky to start my engineering career with. I look forward to my time with V5 and meeting fellow FRP enthusiasts at upcoming events!

Thanks again Glyn.

Rish

Sorry to hear its gone, but it sounds like its gone to a good home :)

Mk2 Escorts are very popular and expensive at the moment, we've got loads entered into our rally! You must post some pics Glynn, especially when you buy your next FRP

Welcome along Rish, I think you have a beauty there. Hopefully you can make it along to the RS Owners Day at Castle Combe in July, I believe V4 FRP will be there as well :) Enjoy :)

Hi Rish,

Welcome to FRP ownership :D
I suspect you already know more about them than most of us do.

Remember they are a "Drivers car" not a sit in a hermetically sealed garage all year car

Might see you at Combe this year.

Great news Rish!

I'm really pleased the deal came together and I could point you in the right direction! I can't wait to see the car.

Rush its great to hear that V5 has a new owner as enthusiastic as Glyn and so knowledgable about our FRP's. We are planning to go along to Coombe in July so hopefully we may be able to reunite V4 and V5. V4 met V1 and V6 and V2 at the Duxford meet so if he can meet up with V5 that will only leave V3 to find. Where abouts are you based you never know you might even be close to some of our regular haunts.

Many thanks for the welcome.

I'll have to declare that my first-hand knowledge of the FRP has somewhat faded over the years, but having a vested interest in the subject now has got me reading up again! I'll have to try and find my log book from my time at Dunton. As I mentioned in my first post - it's great to know that such an expansive knowledge base exists here and I'm sure I'll slowly drag myself up to speed! Lots to learn (for the second time) but what a fun way to do it! I'm not sure I'll ever have the carnal knowledge that Ross and Glyn have amassed but I have a few things planned that if I ever start (!), look forward to sharing with you all!

I'm hoping that I'll be able to make Combe in July and will confirm as soon as I know I can.

Many thanks once again!

Rish (who's wondering what grief he'll get at work for defecting back to his Essex roots!)

V3 was at Duxford, but it doesn't wear the V3 plate any-more.

Sure I have some photo's of Mark doing a track session at Castle Combe a few years ago.
Rish, one of the organisers of RS day was the owner before Glyn of the car.
