Will,

You may want to correct your statement in the description that it's the first customer car, as it's not.

Best of luck with the sale :)

Hi Will, just checked your pistonheads advert and saw you are in North Yorkshire. Where abouts as I've seen one in York with white wheels but not sure if it's yours. Good look with the sale.

there was 6 San francisco press cars all with FMC 01-6 numbered on there inlet manifolds and numberplate V1 FRP etc, these are well documented with all the little changes, there was more press cars all with FMC whatever on the inlet manifold cant remmber exactly how many it was 20'ish (23 sticks for some reason, Ed ?)

then when the FRP went into production they started the numbering again with 001 etc on the manifold, no FMC

001 being the first customer car, it was bought by one of the ford dealers MD, that actually got smashed up heavily, but later rebuilt ?

so.............technically there could be 2 FRP's with the same number albeit not an FMC car, for instance I own FMC 05, V5 FRP that went to san francisco, there was also #005 FRP that was wrote off so now there is only one 5 now but you get what I mean ?

the press cars were supposed to be remanifolded before sale losing the FMC status, and meaning no "doubles" this did happen to some, (some like mine escaped intact with there heritage)

hope the above makes sense, I gather from Ed's comment you own 007 ??? not a press car ?

when I decided I wanted a press car it had to be a san francisco car, have it's FMC manifold still, and have it's original FRP plate, not an easy task, and I was unlikely to get the chance again, hence buying it and worrying about what to do with it later

good luck with the sale though whatever

yes Ross I know I'm a nerd

No, fords kept the manifolds back out of the 500 to remanifold the press cars, then as I say they didn't all get done, hence why some under 500 manifolds found there way straight to eBay :D

Penny Hunking was the first customer delivered car which had manifold number 0002 I think it was on P2 FRP plate last time I saw it. There's pictures of it being presented by the team at Tickfords to Penny which I have at home somewhere.

As others have said already, there were 23 press and development cars (FMC prefix manifolds), then customer production began with manifold 0001. Whilst press and development fleets are usually scrapped at the end of their life cycle, the 23 FMC cars were due to be re-incorporated at the end of customer production using regular manifolds. This was not totally successful as a number of cars were sold on without remanifolding.

Congrats on your sale - someone got a bargain. :)
