A few of you have known this was pending - having got a fresh MOT today (sailed through) I thought I would at least pop an advert on here. Will probably advertise in all the usual channels in the proper selling season of spring-time next year. In the meantime, if anyone is looking for a tidy one to stick in their garage in readiness for show season next year, read on. :) This is a great opportunity to buy a cherished car that has been carefully maintained and enjoyed throughout it's lifetime. It's well known to the club, having attended all the major meets since RPOC began. I'm hoping to find another enthusiast to continue my efforts in nearly 10 years of ownership. Ed :)

First registered to Ford Motor Company in Nov 2000, conversion as manifold number 0449 completed at Tickford on 12th December 2000. Purchased by myself on 20/07/01 with 3472 miles.

Full service history:
21/12/01 7819
21/01/03 13881
28/02/04 20058
05/03/05 23186
11/03/06 25423
21/04/07 28362
10/05/08 29896
30/05/09 30903
29/05/10 31811
21/05/11 32903

- MOT till December 2011.
- Alcon brakes cleaned and inspected annually.
- Cambelt changed 07/11/2006 - Next due by 07/11/2011.

- All appropriate Racing Puma Technical Service bulletins completed where appropriate during build or during first two years of operation.

- Rear Brake hose recall (3C855) carried out at Clevedon Ford, September 2003.

- Mileage as of 04/07/2010 - 33070

- Always serviced by Richard Davies (Ford Racing preferred Racing Puma service agent). Richard worked for Arriva Ford Swindon (one of the Ford Racing dealer network members) as their RS specialist, before becoming an independent service specialist in 2003.

- Fitted with Armourfend paint protection system and Cannon mudflaps since October 2001.

Provenance:

- Only one of three Racing Pumas to retain it's original Tickford build folder, detailing the car's progress through every stage of conversion, from donor car acceptance to vehicle test drive and Ford sign-off. These were unique documents never intended for release to vehicle owners. All other build folders were lost when the Ford Racing Boreham site was cleared and closed.

- Original specification print-out document from Ford Germany Cologne production line, noting vehicle's VIN number, ST160 RHD model notation, dated 14/04/2000 listing equipment, colour and trim options fitted.

- Was one of the final group of six Racing Pumas to receive final sign-off (including the last car to roll off the line), prior to the end of the conversion program.

- Has original numbered owners supplement, Ford Racing Mirror hanger and tax-disk holder.

- Has been the feature car for three Ford magazine Racing Puma buyers guides (Fast Ford January 2005, Fast Ford December 2007 and Performance Ford August 2008), and the Performance Ford Racing Puma 10th Anniversary article (October 2010).

Additions:

- Rare OEM Ford Racing stainless steel sill plates (part number 9990006).

- 6006 Ford stereo, similar appearance to original 6000 unit but with built-in 6-disc multi-changer

- Alcantara gear and handbrake gaiters to match cabin interior trim (originals retained).

- Scroth ASM auto-control 4-point harnesses, with motion-controlled inertia reel shoulder straps. These harnesses have a quick-disconnect fitting in the shoulder straps that means passengers can still be carried in the rear seats and all four regular vehicle seat-belts used instead.

Notes:

- Garaged since March 2002.

- No damage history, HPI clear.

- Not taken out during winter months if roads have been gritted, or at any time during the year if its raining.

- Paintwork, bodywork and interior in excellent condition throughout. Minimised exposure to sunlight throughout it's lifetime has helped prevent fading/degradation of exterior/interior fabrics, plastics and rubber trim.

- Front and rear arches, floorpan, shell seams, treated with a combination of Waxoyl and LPS-3 anti corrosion products since 2002. Coatings have been reapplied/maintained in 2005/2008 and 2010.

- Wheels refurbished and new Toyo T1-R tyres fitted November 2006.

- Full Janspeed stainless exhaust system manufactured on original tooling, fitted in May 2009.

- Classic Additions indoor cotton cover.

- Full set of keys - two keyfob keys, one red master key plus the t-key.

Spares package:

I have been fortunate to assemble a package of new spares for the car including body panels, suspension, braking system and trim. While these are not included in this sale, any purchaser of the car would be given first refusal on their purchase.

As I mentioned before ;) Think this is one of those situations where in the future your going to really regret that you didn’t just mothball it somewhere for however long...............

I sold a 3DR Moonstone blue Sierra Cosworth about 15 Years ago ! that even at the time I was conscious I should just be stashing it as I was the 2nd owner it was low miles and I had cherished it

It would appear that was as I feared a bad move

But hope it works out for you Ed, you’ve gone out of your way to help me over the years and you’re a fantastic ambassador for the club, hope you stick about for a bit

Good luck with it, it's a cracking example :)

Shocked to see this one for sale! how come you are selling Ed? Thought you'd be keeping this one forever. You will struggle to find another one as good as this!

Thanks Glyn - kind words. Members like yourself are the reason I intend to still keep an involvement with the club even if I'm no longer driving my own FRP. If I had somewhere to properly store the car whilst my new project was underway I probably would. However, I know I'd wonder if I was neglecting it, if I should be checking up on this and that etc etc. While I know I'd hate the day I'd watch it drive away, I do feel positive about another enthusiast having the chance to enjoy the car like I have done.

It's easy to talk about keeping something forever - I've said the same in the past about 0449, however a few things have occurred that makes me ready to move on with a new project that pre-dates my FRP ownership. Don't worry, I do know that once I sell I'm probably never going to be able to return to FRP ownership at the same point- unless I can get a future buyer to agree to give me first refusal to buy her back.

Next project is hopefully going to be a Van's RV-8. I was just finishing an RV-6 when I bought 0449 (long since sold).

That's a plane to those of you that have no idea what a Van's RV-8 is!

As you know I am sorry to see you sell Ed, but we have built up a great friendship in the 9 + years that I have known you so it doesn't matter what you drive (as long as its not a BMW ;)) we'll still be good friends. I'm glad to hear that you will be sticking around the club as you have so much knowledge stored away in your brain about the car that it would be a shame to lose it.

In one way I hope no one buys X7 as I don't want to see it leave your ownership, but I know how much the next project means to you and Karen so Good Luck with the sale :) I still don't know how you are going to fit a plane in your garage!?

I still think you should have priced it over £10k as it's easily worth that the way it has been maintained to a very high standard over the years.

Vas - we'll be having words later ;)

Thanks Lisa - the friendships are the best part of FRP ownership, and car or no-car, these won't change :)

I thought long and hard about the price - and while it would have been easy to make the price five figures, I'm hoping this makes an attractive opportunity for a Racing Puma enthusiast.

Yep, build it yourself - flush-rivetted aluminium airframe.

I'll address the spares sale as a separate issue if the buyer doesn't want them. There are probably half a dozen people who've asked for first dibs since I started advertised.
