Hi Everyone
After 2 ½ years of FRP ownership the time has come for me to sell my Ford Racing Puma (FRP). This fine example of an FRP is number 432 of 500 built by Tickford between 1999 and 2000.

The car benefits from having a full body re-spray which was carried out towards the end of 2009. During the re-spray, I took the opportunity of having the lower rear quarter seam welded and blended into the sill to stop any future corrosion occurring, as this area is a bit of a hot spot for rust on these cars. New weather stripping, rear quarter windows and various new trim (including rear quarter interior panels) and grilles were also fitted at this time.

Following the re-spray the vehicle was taken to Paint Shield in Peterborough and the front bumper and rear quarters were covered with their fantastic protective film to keep the dreaded stone chips at bay! Unlike a lot of FRP's out there, the brakes on this car have been regularly maintained and are in excellent condition. The vehicle has been recently fitted with the correct original specification Alcon discs, and the callipers were completely overhauled, anodised and repainted at the same time by an independent Alcon specialist (the one the only…. eldude!) who is well known and respected within Racing Puma circles.

The car comes with a comprehensive history file, containing receipts for servicing and repairs from 2002 to the present day, a summary of which I have attached below. The cam belt was replaced a year ago and the vehicles timing was set using the correct FRP specific timing tool by the RS Ford specialist "Tremona Garage" in Southampton. The engine is in excellent order and drives extremely well without any idle issues, will rev freely up to the rev limiter and in my ownership has been run religiously on Shell/BP 99 octane fuel. The front suspension bushes have also been replaced, whilst the rear bushes have been upgraded to the Power Flex items which are more durable than the standard items.

The interior is complete and is in excellent condition with little or no bobbling of the seats, and the steering wheel is clean and free from rips, bobbles and tears. The vehicle has always been driven with covers on the seats in my ownership.

The vehicle will come with the desirable FRP number plate; I will also throw in a subscription to the RPOC as this is the ultimate support line to any FRP owner! Stainless steel exhaust manifold and system fitted and comes complete with the legendary Racing Puma "overrun crackle"! If anyone is interested please feel free to PM me or contact me on 07901 916355. The vehicle was recently valued by Ed at the Duxford meet at around £7,500. I am however looking for offers in the region of £6,000, which I think is a fair price given the condition of the vehicle. MOT and Tax till August 2011.

Hello Al,

Thanks for the kind comments mate.

If I said I was hanging onto all my FRP spares....I hope that would give you a hint at my plans!

Basically I'm saving up for an absolutely pristine FRP or an ex press car (Glyn beat me to the last one!!! :x  )
I know it sounds madness considering all the effort i've put into 432, but I really need to get a cheap car for commuting (probably a standard 1.7 puma!) and then I can get some bunce together for a nice one.

There's also a chance that I might have to start working out at GM in Detroit for 6 months so I wouldn't be able to enjoy the FRP anyway!

yeah i remember you saying at duxford and it really still confuses me.

your frp is immaculate and within the top 15 best ones out there so i really cant see how you are going to better it.

a press car is nice as a piece of history but you may spend £5000 again doing what youve already done.

your choice obviously but i think you need mental help

get a cheapo puma and come play on track with us lot ;-).

I viewed Jim's FRP yesterday but unfortunately due to my first baby on the way (in 3 weeks!) I just couldn't justify buying my weekend toy at the moment - gutted!

This is a really great car backed up by loads of history and drives superbly. It's obvious that Jim has poured lots of time and money into it during his ownership........viewing is highly recommended.

Good luck with the sale Jim and thanks again for giving me the opportunity to rekindle my love for these cars....

John

P.s. If you still have it in 12 months time pls give me a call!

Hello Everyone,
FRP No.432 has now been sold to a gentleman called Guy (LVPP on the forum) who's an ex Ford Powertrain engineer.

Whilst I'm sad that 432 has gone, I know its gone to a good home as Guy has an amazing workshop! Whilst I feel a bit down about the sale, I feel proud that I made it look so good in the time that I had it ans saved another FRP from further decline...and I can always get another one....perhaps with a FMC manifold!!!

I got a big favour to ask everyone.....and this is going to sound really stupid! Can you all keep an eye out for 432 and help Guy (LVPP) out with any queries he may have? I'm going to pay for Guy's subscription to the forum for the first year as I think its important that he has access to all the excellent guides and advice from fellow FRP-ers!

Chris, I have also given him your email address. I hope you don't mind, but you're the only bloke I would trust to do the brakes on that car! :D

Once again, thank you for all your help with the sale of 432.

Jim

Ed's car is amazing! However I need another garage (which I'm trying to convince my neighbour to rent to me!) as a car as nice as that needs to be tucked away at night a read Winnie the Pooh stories! :D

I would love Ed's car. Its just so nice and its provinance is unsurpassed. Sadily, its just not the right time and I don't have the storage space. :( But I am tucking money away for another one! And I'll still be milling around on the forum. :D

I've got to get something for communting that isn't as rare as an FRP, and which I don't mind putting the miles on. This was one of the reasons why I took the radical step of selling up. Also, the whole Detroit / Germany thing looks like its going to happen, so I don't know what I'm doing for the next couple of years.

By the way, Guy works for a company about a mile down the road from Dunton, so maybe some of the Dunton FRP brigade can hook up with him! :D
