Hi everyone , my name is Jamie and i have recently bought an FRP number 003 . The car is in pretty good order, but my plan is to return it to it's former glory and keep it long term. I already own a thunder which i intend to track day next year so i have been busy with suspension and brake mods on that . Over the winter i intend to give the FRP a good going over with a thorough clean inside and out + a full mechanical service and a cam belt . One thing i would like to ask is about spares. I need a drivers side drive shaft as my heavy right foot has snapped the original . I have trawled the net and it looks like Pumabuild are the only suppliers at about £150 for the original Ford item. Has anybody got good advise about said item and getting parts in general . Many thanks Jamie

Welcome
The driveshafts don't like heavy right foot and a turned steering wheel with load particularly from a standing or slow speed.
Look after your replacement as original items are few and far between for driveshafts :)

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of converting a standard puma for Motorsport use. Thought your site would serve me some inspiration for FRP style mods.

Have you thought about using your Puma in the UK Puma Cup series?

It's certainly something I've considered. I'm leaning more towards one of the msv championships as they have a slightly more open set of regulations. Nothing's set in stone at the moment though!

Hi all. I'm robbie, live in the north east, and I'm lucky enough to own two frp's.. I bought frp0157 a few years ago as the owner had stripped it to sell for parts.. It's taken me over two years to get to where it is now.. Just need to paint it and buy an inlet and it's done. Keeping another one on the road.. It's never gonna be sold. Wanted one for years and when this one came along at the price. £675 I snapped it up.. I've always messed with cars and have great knowledge now and I'm a panel beater/ mechanic and paint sprayer by trade so do like to use my skills..
And now a few weeks ago I bought frp0416 which had also been stripped by the owner. So this is my current project. I already have quite a few parts so this one shouldn't take as long.. Once done this one will be my daily drive and 0157 will be my sunny weather only lol..

welcome along
Two cars spoilt for which one to drive, doing the build up yourself should hopefully give good future rust proofing.
#0416 will get another chance to live again, gosh almost a cat with 9 lives :-)

Great to see someone else keeping two of them going. I take my hat off to you as you have literally save two from extinction.

Thanks for your replies.. 0416 has had a hard life. As far as I am aware it was a cat c from 2001. One year after been built from the factory. The owner must have been gutted.. The crash damaged its original inlet but I have seen this repaired on another forum. I've always liked the puma. Have had loads of the standard 1.7's but once the frp was launched I had to have one.. Or two lol.. I'm hoping to take 0157 to the 15year anniversary in May..
How do I go about been a fully paid member please

Just wanted to say after a lot of yearning and lusting,I am the proud owner of 374. I've always loved the look of these cars but the real fun comes when driving them. My family are all total ford nuts.I picked the car up Saturday. Just want to say thanks to Chris again for the track lesson and the run down on the car.
