Hey, I'm quite keen on getting a FRP but I haven't seen one for quite a while! I'm up in Scotland - I don't suppose there's anyone nearby I could have a look round their car or any meets coming up in Scotland? Just my luck that its passed the show season!

Always loved the Puma S1600's and looking to downsize my daily driver, but not keen on getting a dull run around. What realistic mpg do you get mainly motorways with a bit of town driving?

I've started reading through the forum and it seems theres quite a lot of out-the-ordinary parts that might not be serviced much longer. Not a huge worry, but its not really selling the idea of being (slightly) cheaper than what I've got...

Buyers guide is a great help though - cheers!

There is usually at least 2 to 3 for sale at any one point, best place to look as i'm sure you know will be the following:

http://www.ebay.co.uk two on there at the moment

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk

http://www.autotrader.co.uk

I'm pretty sure that there is a couple of registered members on here who live in Scotland so perhaps some one can help you on that front. :D

I put £1.12 to £1.22 petrol in mine which works out at £40 odd for a tank and that usually gets me 240 miles however you give it some sheryl every now and again and your more likely to get 200 miles and tracking it i think someone said they got about 70 - 80 miles  So i would say its brilliant but theres definatley worse out there. (perhaps no worse for a 1.7ltr engine  )

Tbh its not the cheapest car to run over a yearly basis but defintaley worth it, just try to remember that new Tax price of £190 a year insurance from £200 up to £600 for most owners. Cost of servicing the brakes and replacement parts, obviously a lot cheaper if you service them yourself but can still work out to a few quid  and tyres around the £70 to £210 each and driving hard will soon see the walls disapear

Mines £450 but as i have DUI (DR10 Driving under the pi55) :? but fortunatley i still have three years no claims, pass plus and i'm over 25.

The above is being honest with you in terms of running the car and daily cost but please dont let this put you off as the car is truley fantastic, i have drove some tasty cars and owned some great front wheel drive cars (Williams Clio, Clio 172 Cup, Rover 214 GTI   ) and i can easily say this is up there with them and you will not regret the purchase.

Hope my waffle helps

Cheers David

Currently getting 350miles (if I behave) out of my current car (2.0 16v turbo) which has a 45L tank...how bigs the Puma's?

Won't be going on track, I've other toys for that! Pretty handy with a spanner, so will be carrying out all the work (apart from specialist stuff) myself so that will help.

What insurance group are they? And I'm right in saying most will be £205 a year road tax because they're pre March 2001?

Sounds odd, but what are the headlights like? I once had a Calibra which had 'shaped' headlights and they were useless. Love the look of the Puma's but are they any use?

The tax is 190 for the year, pre 2001 goes by engine size rather than emissions 8) They are group 15 insurance so not to bad, but you'll have some hassle getting the insurance company to believe its an FRP, specially if you get a 2000 one like me! in most insurance's eyes they were all made in 1999 and not in 2000 aswell lol.

Hi there,

I have a racing puma for sale just now. I am based in Midlothian and would be happy to show you the car.
Here's an add for the car -

If you give me a ring on 07747636286 we can arrange this.

Also, the car is booked for a paint detail on the 17th which I will pay for.

My insurance was £144 this year, quite fitting seeing as my car is #144 ;)
